Eligibility Criteria

 

Hands-on Courses

Any eligible hands-on workshop will meet the following criteria.

A workshop is either:

  • one 2-day (16 hour total) training that focuses on lower body treatment. Workshops may be a full lower body course (ex: foot, leg, knee, & hips) or may be a more focused workshop that includes more than one of those body regions (ex: hips and knees).

or

  • one 2-day (16 hour total) training that focuses on upper body treatment. Workshops may be a full upper body course (ex: neck, shoulder, arm & hands) or may be a more focused workshop that includes more than one of those body regions (ex: neck and shoulder).

 

When is the workshop taken?

  1. Future scheduled workshops

Any workshop that is listed on our schedule page can be included to meet the hands-on course requirement.

  1. Courses up to 5 years old

A hands-on training workshop that you previously took within the last 5 years can be applied toward the specialty certificate qualifications if it meets ALL of the following criteria:

  • The workshop meets the criteria for upper and lower body courses listed above
  • It was taken with one of the instructors listed on our course schedule page, including courses taken from the Academy of Clinical Massage.
  • The course was an independent dedicated course (not at a convention).
  • You can show proof of course completion.
  1. Courses more than 5 years old

Credit for a hands-on training course that you previously took more than 5 years ago can be applied toward the specialty certificate qualifications if it meets ALL of the following criteria:

  • The workshop meets the criteria for upper and lower body courses listed above
  • The course was taken with one of the instructors listed on our course schedule page, including courses taken from the Academy of Clinical Massage.
  • The course was an independent dedicated course (not at a convention).
  • You can show proof of course completion.
  • You have submitted a coursework portfolio review application to the Academy and the portfolio review application has been successfully accepted after review. Contact the Academy for portfolio review requirements.


Online Courses

Course content can fulfill the online course requirement if it successfully meets either of the two options below: 

  1. Current Courses

The online course is one of the seven core modules in the Academy’s Clinical & Orthopedic Massage online program and it was taken within the last 3 years.

  1. Courses more than 3 years old

Credit for an online training course that you previously took more than 3 years ago can be applied toward the specialty certificate qualifications if ALL the following conditions are met:

  • The course is part of our former online Clinical& Orthopedic Massage online program.
  • You have submitted an online coursework portfolio review application to the Academy to determine what is needed to get your course work current (catch-up coursework). Contact the Academy for portfolio review requirements.
  • You have completed any required catch-up coursework from our current existing program
